Magness earned her bachelor's degree from Spring Arbor College and an associate degree in nursing from Jackson Community College. She earned a masters in nursing from Wayne State University. She is a Registered Nurse and is certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.
