Accreditations, Awards and Recognition

Oaklawn is accredited by the Joint Commission, the American College of Radiology, the College of American Pathologists, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The American Association of Respiratory Care has recognized the hospital for Quality Respiratory Care. Oaklawn's Joint Center has consistently earned high state and national ratings for joint replacement outcomes. The hospital has received the Governor's Award for Improving Patient Safety and Quality of Care each of the five years it was presented, and for over a dozen years has been at or near the top of Arbor Associates' patient satisfaction survey of approximately 50 Midwestern hospitals. Oaklawn's steady growth has made it the area's largest employer and in 2008 was one of seven Michigan organizations named to Modern Healthcare's first national list of the "Top 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare".

In September 2009, Oaklawn was designated a “Magnet Hospital” by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. The ANCC established the “Magnet Recognition Program” to recognize health care organizations that meet stringent criteria for nursing professionalism, teamwork, and the highest standards in patient care. At this time only 352 hospitals across the country (about 5%) have received this designation and Oaklawn is the 7th organization in Michigan.
